CAMPBELL, RACHEL

Rachel Campbell is from Christchurch, New Zealand. Upon graduating from high school, she went directly to Art School at Otago School of Art. In 1984 she moved to Toronto Canada where she continued her studies at Central Technical Art School, majoring in painting. She exhibited in Canada with a group called The Five Fingered Zoo. Rachel then moved back to New Zealand in 1989, and began exhibiting at Moray Gallery in Dunedin. During that time she was selected for the Cleveland Art award, and won the Telecom area telephone book cover and award in 1995. In 1996 Rachel moved to London UK. There she exhibited with Duncan Millar Fine Arts London, in group shows, at the affordable art fair with CSA gallery, and was a recipient of a South East Arts grant to attend Fresh Art, a London show for new emerging artists. Rachel was also selected for the Royal Academy summer show.

 

While living in Germany in 2000, Rachel had a solo show in the Deutch Americana Institute in Heidelberg. In 2003 Rachel moved to Durham, NC where she has been exhibiting with Tyndall Galleries and also for the first three years with Duncan Millar Fine Art in London. She participated in a three-person show at Tyndall Gallery in 2008. She has had two solo shows--one at Horace Williams House(2008) and the other at the Durham Art Guild (2009). Rachel has had a studio at Golden Belt studios since it opened in 2008. Public collectors are Heidelberg University, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and Fidelety Investments. Her work is in private collections in over 10 countries worldwide.
