 DANIEL, ARLENE

DANIEL, ARLENE

Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Daniel’s family relocated to Southwestern Virginia in 1969.  She raised her family in Claudeville, Virginia, where she still resides with her husband, Russell.

Arlene is a self-taught artist that has been painting for about 20 years.  She loves Plein Air painting and does it often, when time allows.  Most of her work depicts interplay of colors and light, and creates areas of excitement with the use of softer muted colors against stronger vibrant colors.  Her style is a blend of realistic details against impressionistic areas.  Her scenes sooth our hearts, evoke a sense of tranquility, and allow us to slow down and enjoy natures beautiful bounty.  Arlene works in oil, pastel, and intaglio prints.  Her work has recently appeared in the following shows:

  •             One person show in Piedmont Art Association in Martinsville, VA
  •             Two person show at The Little Gallery in Smith Mountain Lake, VA

Daniel’s artwork has also been included in shows including Boardwalk Art Show in Virginia Beach, Stockley Garden Art Show in Norfolk, VA, and more recently at The American Landscape National Show sponsored by Associated Artists in Winston-Salem, NC.

She is involved in many art organizations locally and regionally.  She has taught workshops and classes, at Sawtooth Center, Winston-Salem, NC and at Reynolds Homestead in Stuart, Virginia.  She has won many local and regional awards for her work.  Her artwork is in many corporate collections, some of them including Wachovia Bank, RBC Centura Bank, Scott Paper Co., Glaxco, Novant Health, SAS Institute, and many private collections across the country and abroad.
