 PILKINGTON, PAT

PILKINGTON, PAT

Pat Pilkington grew up in southeastern NC with music and theatre as her interests.  But while pursuing music at UNC-G, she was swept away by an actor she met one summer. They eloped to NY and lived the "starving artist" life. During this period, she and her husband gallery-hopped each weekend in the City's art galleries--first for the free food, but soon for her increasing love for the art.

As the family grew in size, they traipsed around each summer wherever they could find acting and singing jobs that would include the children, too.  But after two kinds of cancer and some tragic family losses, Pat slowed down enough to try art herself.  One painting was all it took to propel her to the next, and she hasn't slowed her pace since.  As soon as she begins one painting, she's already planning the next and the next.

Color is the lure--imagining the palette to use and seeing what brushstroke and medium--oil, watercolor, or pastel--will best express her message.  She continues to study and take workshops in order to grow and discover.
